Florence, Italy – 2022
The new Auditorium of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino is a premium performance space, an integral part of a modern architectural complex with a strong identity, designed to host a varied and international artistic programme.
In this context, Decima contributed to the installation of the stagecraft infrastructure, equipping the hall with a state-of-the-art technological system capable of ensuring maximum efficiency, flexibility and aesthetic quality.
The project involved both the mechanical part of the stage machinery and the delivery of stage and auditorium drapes, with the aim of creating a perfectly integrated environment from a functional, acoustic and visual point of view.

Main characteristics:
- Electric and point winches: 80 centrally controlled electric fly lines have been installed, designed to guarantee precision and safety during movements. In addition, there are 20 point hoists, ideal for complex set designs and for moving elements in non-fixed positions, supporting maximum artistic creativity.
- Mobile stage opening portal: The stage opening portal is equipped with horizontal and vertical movement systems that allow it to be adjusted according to the set requirements, optimising the visual and acoustic proportions according to the production being staged.
- Safety curtain: The theatre is equipped with a safety curtain that complies with the latest safety regulations, designed to ensure insulation between the auditorium and the stage in the event of an emergency.
- Soundproof door: The theatre is equipped with a soundproof door separating the stage from the backstage area. This ensures that staging work can continue in the backstage area even during rehearsals and/or performances on stage.
- Mobile platforms and decks: The stage is equipped with four double-deck mobile platforms and 20 compensating platforms, allowing the stage layout to be varied as required and offering a high degree of spatial modularity.
- Stage wagons: 8 side wagons and 1 rear wagon with a turntable expand the possibilities for stage movement, allowing for quick entrances and dynamic scenery even in complex productions.
- Stage opening and auditorium drapes: The new auditorium has been fitted with a Roman curtain framed by two stage opening wings and a front valance made in velvet, chosen to harmonise with the colour pallet of the hall and the wall coverings. The equipment is completed by a stage backdrop and an additional Roman curtain that divides the auditorium into two areas.
