Projects /
Turin, Italy – 2010
The restoration of the Carignano Theatre has combined respect for its historical character with the integration of cutting-edge stagecraft.
The renovation work enhanced the original decorative elements while introducing technological solutions capable of ensuring functionality and stage versatility in a context of high architectural value.
Main characteristics
- Main curtain and stage opening drapes: made following the original patterns, with hand-made passementeries. The main curtain slides along a pantograph-style guide, accompanied by three valances operated by a manual winch.
- Orchestra pit and stage: The orchestra pit is equipped with a lifting platform powered by the Spiralift® system, while the stage can be tilted using a jacking mechanism, ensuring high stage flexibility for different types of performances.
- Orchestra pit balustrade: made of movable panels to adapt to different height requirements, finished towards the stalls with fabric coverings that match the finishes in the auditorium.
- Auditorium and box fittings: balconies decorated with draped valances, passementeries, elbow rests on the parapets and damask fabric coverings with the stylised coat of arms of the Princes of Carignano. The fabrics include layers of polyurethane to improve acoustics, while the valances include profiled steel sheet. Perimeter finishes in gold or colour-coordinated cords and passementerie.
- Foyer and adjacent areas: White damask drapes, with a design in keeping with the room, decorated with passementeries in shades of ivory, gold and light blue.
- Lighting system: lighting control system equipped with 248 ETC digital dimmers, model Sensor, complete with console for efficient lighting management.
