Supply and installation of blackout curtains

Pontebba, Italy – 2022

Decima oversaw the study, design and installation of technical curtains for the ice arena, with the aim of improving the acoustic and lighting performance of the environment, while ensuring an aesthetic impact consistent with the architectural context.

The project included the installation of openable and fixed curtains, both sound-absorbing and blackout, made with CAM – Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified fire-retardant fabrics.

Sound-absorbing drapes and blackout curtains

Sound absorbing drapes and blackout curtains, made from 100% fire-retardant polyester velvet (Class 1), weight 430 g/m², and lined with 100% fire-retardant polyester fabric (Class 1) weight 330 g/m², both CAM – Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, with high abrasion resistance and good light fastness.

The curtains can be opened in a Roman style, operated manually in a precise and safe manner by means of a rope winch with a safety brake.

The entire system is installed using metal plates and brackets fixed to the wall.

Main characteristics:

  • Bracing every 80 cm to ensure stability and regularity of the fold
  • Shaped to fit the window frame dimensions
  • Lead weights at the base to maintain vertical tautness
  • Upper reinforcement with tape and steel rings to pass the rope through
  • Suspension truss in aluminium latticework, with pulley system and coated steel cables, comprising connectors and inserts to achieve the desired length.

Sound-absorbing and blackout fixed curtains

Fixed sound-absorbing and blackout curtains, made from the same fabrics as the openable ones, designed to blend in visually with the existing openable curtains.

Main characteristics:

  • Battens or riveted seams every 80 cm, in line with the design of the opening curtains
  • Lead weights at the base to guarantee vertical tautness
  • Upper reinforcement with tough tape
  • Shaping to measure with generous perimeter allowance
  • Perimeter aluminium frame for curtain suspension.
